With more than a 110 years of experience, the Massachusetts Association for the Blind and Visually Impaired is a leader in the field of vision rehabilitation. Our partner optometrists, occupational therapists, peer support group leaders and 1:1 community volunteers helped more than 1,100 Massachusetts residents live with dignity and independence this year.
We are a private, non-profit, community-based home health care agency. Services: skilled nursing; physical, occupational, and speech therapy; medical social services; home health aides and homemakers; hospice program; health and wellness programs. Established in 1909, we are licensed in MA and NH, and accredited by the JCAHO. Affiliated with Lowell General Hospital (LGH Corporation).
The Upper Merrimack Valley MRC is one of about 45 Medical Reserve Corps units in Massachusetts – and one of nearly 1000 across America – that is actively recruiting, training, and deploying civilian volunteers in case of emergencies. We are always eager to welcome new members who would like to make a difference in their community, both in responding to a crisis and supporting local community health programs. Although this is a regional unit which serves the seven communities across the Upper Merrimack Valley, applicants can choose whether to serve in their town only, the UMV region, across Massachusetts upon urgent request, or on a National MRC deployment.
Offers over 5000 resources for elders and seniors: case management, adult family care program, health clinics, homemakers, Alzheimer counseling and registration, community meal sites/ meals on wheels; Employment and volunteer opportunities; health promotion clinics; intergenerational programming; legal assistance; nursing home ombudsman program; nursing home pre-admission screening.
Provides emergency services in the areas of: disaster assistance; veterans/military services; AIDS information and education; nurses aide and home health care training, first aid, CPR, and water safety instruction; international and domestic family tracing, and family welfare inquiries and communication during natural disaster or war; International Red Cross messages during war or disaster; Holocaust tracing.
